A couple students have pointed out to me some typos in
Proposition 2 on page 5 of week 2 notes which may be
important when doing Q2 of HW2.
Firstly, the numbering of parts in Proposition 2 is off -
part (f) is repeated twice. Of course, this means that part
2(g) should really be numbered 2(h), so Q2 should read
"You do not need to prove 2(h)...". In part (a), the phrase
"If x = y, then..." is missing at the start (thus Prop 2(a)
should read "If x=y, then x and y are eps-close for every eps > 0. Conversely, ...").
Finally, in the proof of Proposition 2(h) (formerly numbered
2(g), (x+a)(w+z) should read (x+a)(z+b)).
Thanks to all the students who helped point out these typos. There are a number of other corrections (some minor, some not so minor)
to be made to the notes; you can see a current list of corrections on the bonus point page.
