Course Outline: Math 131B - Catalog Description

Exams: Note: No makeups are allowed for the midterm and for the final examination. In order to pass the class you must take the final exam. If you should miss the midterm, your absence should be documented. Bring a photo ID card to all exams. No calculators, books, or notes will be permitted.
The final covers sections 12.1-12.5, 13.1-13.4, 14.1-14.7, 15.1-15.4(except 15.3), 15.5, 17.1-17.5.

Grading: The final grade will be based on the best of the following schemes:

Final Exam 50%, Midterm 35%, Homework: 15%

or

Final Exam 85%, Homework: 15%

Homework problems:

Homework will be collected at the beginning of the Tuesday Discussion Section, beginning January 12, ending March 2. Late homework will not be accepted. Label each homework clearly with your name and class (Math 131B, Lecture 1). You may work together on the homework, but you must write up your solutions by yourself. The homework will emphasize making correct proofs. Note that EACH homework will count.
